In response to increasingly dynamic, digitally maturing environments, have you ever wondered how CIOs avoid the pitfalls of rapidly changing, diverging stakeholder expectations? Relatively high, sustained rates of CIO turnover suggest that traditional approaches to CIO role definition, assessment and motivation aren’t working. This report clarifies how increasingly long lists of expectations have continued to reinforce CIO role ambiguity. Following literature review, the author suggests that an alternative perspective on CIO role performance could be derived from CIO effectiveness.
